How the MedAdvantage Health Care Savings Program Works

 

 

·         Enroll and register your credit/debit card

·         Present your MedAdvantage card to a participating health care provider or pharmacy.

(Cardholders can obtain participating provider information via MedAdvantage Member Services Department at 1-800-656-4566; Mon – Fri, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. EST.).

·         Receive your health care purchases and services at a discounted rate from your selected network provider.

·         Receive a receipt or EOB (Explanation of Benefits) showing the discounted amount to be billed to your registered credit or debit card account.

·         Discounted charges and services will appear on the regular statement of your authorized credit or debit card, registered for use with the MedAdvantage Health and Wellness Savings Program.

Why do I have to use my credit card?

When your MedAdvantage card is linked to your credit or debit card account…….

(1)    Eliminates paperwork and claim forms, which streamlines the processing of claims thereby allowing us to pass these savings on to you.

(2)    Allows us to report actual (not estimated) savings, which we report this back to you via our quarterly savings statement.

 

How much will I save?

·         Prescription.  Average prescription savings is $11.30 per prescription.*   Some members have saved thousands annually on prescriptions.  Mr. & Mrs.  Snowberger of Ohio saw us on TV and saved over $1300 on prescriptions alone since they joined our program. 

·         Vision.  Vision care charges are anticipated to occur once every year and a half.  Average discounted charges are $129.14 and the average savings of current MedAdvantage members is $84.32 or 40% per visit.* 

·         Dental.  Pricing varies; however, savings are about 20-30%.  Average discounted charges are $193 and our average savings is $60.14 or 24% per visit.  The dental program alone can save a family hundreds of dollars a year. *

Will I save $$$ on every transaction?

You will save on every dental and vision, product or service available on our fee schedules.  These savings  will be fairly consistent and in line with our quoted savings.  Prescription savings, on the other hand, will vary from prescription to prescription based on the drug itself, the quantity prescribed, the manufacturers varied pricing over time, as well as the drug store the prescription is filled at.  Occasionally, a pharmacy may price prescriptions so low that further discounts are not possible. In that case, MedAdvantage will match the pharmacy price, always assuring the lowest price to our members.

 

Is this insurance?

No.  MedAdvantage is not an insurance product, health maintenance organization, or a health care administrator.  Your membership provides you with access to discounts, so you get much better prices with MedAdvantage than you would on your own and significantly reduce your out of pocket spending on these items. 

 

I have insurance, so why do I need this?

MedAdvantage provides low cost health care services to those who may lack “complete insurance coverage”.  If you’re like many Americans, your insurance does not cover these items so that is why MedAdvantage is for you.  The program supplements/meets the needs of Medicare recipients, those with inadequate employer coverage and others by providing access to and reduced costs for prescriptions, vision and dental services……items not covered by many insurance plans or Medicare.

 

If I have other health insurance, will MedAdvantage work in coordination with my other coverage?

It may work with your health care plan.  If you have a large deductible, you can use MedAdvantage to meet that deductible and make your dollars go further.

In general, MedAdvantage provides savings on selected services and IS NOT USED in CONJUNCTION with major medical plans that provide benefits for similar products and services. Is MedAdvantage a reimbursement plan?

No. Your savings are immediate. Unlike some plans that require you to pay full price and then send in a claim for reimbursement, the low MedAdvantage price is applied at time of service.

 

Do I need a referral from my doctor to use MedAdvantage services? Is there a limit on service or savings? 

No to both. You contact the health care service provider directly, whenever and as often as you need. You do not need a referral from your family doctor.  Also, there is no annual maximum limit and no minimum purchase requirements.

 

If I travel, can I still use my MedAdvantage card?

Yes. Your MedAdvantage Card is welcomed at thousands of locations nationwide. And you can call member services toll-free from anywhere in the U.S. for the nearest location.

 

Can I use alternative credit card accounts, check or cash for MedAdvantage purchases?

When using the MedAdvantage program, all purchases are automatically charged to a preselected account.  This is more convenient than writing checks and safer than carrying cash or credit cards.  Members may change their credit/debit card account at any time by calling Member Services at 1-800-656-4566.

 

 

 

If I am not satisfied, what do I do?

If at any time during your membership period you are not satisfied with the program, contact member services to close your account and receive a credit for the unused portion of your membership fee.  To continue your MedAdvantage Health and Wellness Savings Program after the free trial period, you need do nothing. Your account will remain active and available for you to use.

 

 

Can I use my current pharmacy, eye doctor and dentist?

The MedAdvantage card is accepted by thousands of pharmacies and health care providers nationwide.  The MedAdvantage’s call center can quickly determine provider participation and assist in provider selection.
